2023 Annual Report

We are delighted to announce that we received in 2023 a grant from the Environmental Protection Fund of New York of $481,592, through the State Historic Preservation Office. This matches our 2022 grant from the federal Historic Preservation Fund, administered by the National Park Service,

1816 Farmington Quaker Meetinghouse Exterior Restoration.
William Brandow, John G. Waite Associates

for sites relating to the History of Equal Rights. These two grants bring us to within $200,000 of the estimated cost for fully restoring the 1816 Meetinghouse by 2026. The National Park Service has now approved drawings and specifications for exterior restoration, prepared. We are working with SHPO and the Town of Farmington on revised site plan and building permits.

We expect to open this Meetinghouse to the public as a community gathering place and interpretive center in 2026. It will be part of commemorating the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, with its assertion that “all men are created equal.” We expect to serve about 5000 people annually, including local and regional community members and heritage tourists.
